Reporting Unlawful Activity by Federal Agents

Reporting Unlawful Activity by Federal Agents

An announcement by Cecilia Aguiar-Curry: Dear neighbors and friends, I want to share some important news with you. California Attorney General Rob Bonta and Governor Gavin Newsom launched a new online tool for Californians to report possible misconduct by federal agents working in our state. The goal of this new tool is to help document incidents and protect the rights and safety of all of you. If you think a federal agent may have acted unlawfully--like using excessive force, engaging in misconduct, or other potentially illegal behavior--you can share photos, videos, or information with the California Department of Justice through this new online portal. Federal agents do have the authority to do their jobs, including enforcing federal immigration laws. But just like everyone else, they are required to follow the law. If you think a federal agent or officer is acting outside the law you can submit a report by clicking the button below, but please do not interfere with them while they do their work. Report Misconduct Submitting a report does not guarantee the attorney general's office will take specific action. And by law, the attorney general cannot represent individuals or provide legal advice, including in immigration matters. If you need legal help, contact a certified lawyer referral service through the State Bar of California at 1-866-442-2529, or visit LawHelpCA.org and click "Find Legal Assistance" to find free or low-cost legal aid near you. And if you have questions or need help navigating resources, please don't hesitate to reach out to my office at 707-224-0440. My team and I are here to help. Take care, Cecilia Aguiar-Curry
